Issues management & crisis communications

We’ve provided high-level advice and training to CEOs, mayors and councillors, and has led crisis communications teams responding to some of Australia’s highest profile incidents and issues, including:

  • Victorian floods (2011 & 2022)
  • Black Saturday fires (2009)
  • Cranbourne Methane Gas crisis (2008),
  • Springvale Salmonella outbreak (1997)
  • Victorian Gas crisis (1998).

We’ve also developed several crisis communication plans.

In 2020, Marcomms Australia developed a crisis communications plan for Bayside City Council to help them plan and prepare for, and perform well, during a crisis.

In 2015, we developed a crisis communications plan for the City of Kingston, then updated it in 2019.

Both of these projects involved engagement with teams across the organisations to fully understand their risks and mitigating actions as well as strengths, gaps and challenges in relation to strategic communications.
